Boudoir Retouching: My Approach to Authentic Edits
Picture this: you've just had an incredible boudoir experience and you're eager to share your stunning images with your friends. But imagine the horror if your bestie takes a look and goes, "Who's that? She looks vaguely familiar, like a distant cousin or something?" Yikes! That's definitely not the reaction you were hoping for, right?
Hi, I’m Greg Schuler, Maryland boudoir photographer and founder of Schuler Studios. In this article I want to dive into my philosophy on retouching in boudoir photography, which places great emphasis on maintaining authenticity while enhancing your natural allure.
Be Your Best Self
In the realm of boudoir photography, photo retouching plays a pivotal role in enhancing the natural beauty of the subject while preserving their true essence. At Schuler Studios, we are committed to striking the perfect balance between refinement and authenticity in every image we create.
Following a boudoir photoshoot, our goal is to present you with photographs that are both polished and genuine. We achieve this by applying subtle retouching techniques that eliminate temporary imperfections such as blemishes or bruises, ensuring that your skin appears smooth yet unmistakably yours.

Our approach to editing includes careful attention to stray hairs and fine-tuning the eyes to bring forth your most captivating features. These enhancements are executed with precision to avoid any artificial appearance.
Authenticity in Every Detail
We believe in honoring your individuality and, as such, we do not alter your natural body shape or facial characteristics, such as birthmarks and moles. Your unique features, including scars, stretch marks, and other permanent features, are part of your personal story. While we may soften some features, they are never fully removed, respecting their significance in your life's journey.
Occasionally, the editing process may involve correcting elements unrelated to your body, such as indentations from tight-fitting clothing, to ensure a seamless look in your photographs. Nonetheless, we celebrate and preserve elements like tattoos that represent your individuality and personal choices.
