The old Elk Ridge Depot before it became a commercial space

Undated photo of the old Elk Ridge Depot before it was converted to a commercial space

Did you know this building was once the Elk Ridge Depot, a stop along the Annapolis and Elk Ridge Railroad? In the 19th century, it connected Annapolis to the B&O Railroad, playing a key role in Maryland’s transportation history. Just a short distance away, the Elkridge Furnace, once owned by the Ellicott brothers, produced iron used in everything from household goods to Revolutionary War cannons. Today, the historic Elkridge Furnace Inn preserves this legacy, offering a glimpse into Maryland’s industrial past.
