How I Protect the Privacy of Your Boudoir Photos

It’s one of the most common questions I get during phone consultations: How do I know my photos won’t end up on the internet?

Fair question — especially when you’re trusting someone with something as personal as boudoir photos.

Here’s exactly how your images are handled from the moment they’re created to the moment you receive them.

1. Nothing is ever shared without your written permission

The only way your photos could be published is if you explicitly grant permission through a model release. Mine has four levels:

  • Private: Nothing is shared, ever.

  • Anonymous: I can share photos only if your face isn’t visible.

  • Client-Selected: You choose specific images you’re comfortable releasing.

  • Full Release: Any image from your session may be shared.

Most clients choose either private or anonymous. You’re in full control — not me.

2. Unpurchased images are deleted immediately

Anything you don’t purchase at your ordering session is deleted promptly afterwards.

Images you do purchase stay on my system only until:

  • You’ve successfully downloaded all your digitals

  • All printed products have been delivered and you are completely satisfied with the results

After that, they’re removed. I don’t provide long-term archival storage — that’s your responsibility (I have a guide for that, see: “How to Download Your Boudoir Images”).

3. Retouching is done entirely by me — no outsourcing

A lot of photographers send retouching work overseas to random freelancers who cold-DM them. Every week I get pitches from people who don’t even have a website, let alone a published privacy policy.

I don’t send your photos to strangers.

I do all retouching myself. That means:

  • No third-party access to your images

  • Complete artistic control

  • Faster turnaround — usually 1–3 business days, which is faster than anyone else in the area

Your photos stay on my computer, under my control.

4. Printed products go only to vetted professional labs

If you order albums, wall art, or prints, I do have to send those files to a photo lab — obviously, I don’t have a full production lab in my basement.

But I only work with professional labs in the US, Canada, and Europe that:

  • Serve professional photographers only

  • Publish clear privacy and security policies

  • Offer secure upload portals (not email, Dropbox, or Google Drive)

These labs are vetted by me personally, and I rotate between them depending on the product.

5. Digital images are delivered securely and then removed

If you buy a digital collection, your images are delivered through a password-protected gallery platform I’ve tested for reliability and security.

Once you’ve downloaded your images, the gallery is deleted.
No lingering online storage. No open links floating around. No surprises.

If you decide to print your digitals yourself or want recommendations on labs that accept consumer orders, you can check my resource: “Where to Print Boudoir Photos”.

Your privacy isn’t an afterthought — it’s built into the workflow

A boudoir session is already a big step. You shouldn’t have to worry about where your photos might end up. My entire process — from the model release, to my retouching workflow, to how long files stay on my system — is designed to keep everything in your control.

If you have questions beyond what’s here, just ask. Every client gets a full walkthrough before their session so nothing is unclear and nothing is assumed.
